Spell draws are random, so a battle can turn on luck as much as planning. Still, merging two spells of the same tier into a higher one gives each draw a purpose. Fire, Frost and Lightning combine into spirit summons, and the monster waves never stop. Battle rewards permanently upgrade spells and spirits, so start with the merging and treat early losses as upgrade fuel.
