Every dungeon floor is rebuilt on each entry, with new monsters and items, and the turn-based rule means enemies move one step whenever Torneko does. That suits patient solo players who plan each move. Dying wipes the items carried and sends Torneko back to level 1 on floor 1. Items brought out safely expand his shop and fill its storage. A new balance setting changes the difficulty, which helps newcomers, though the permadeath loop stays.
