Controls and connection details aside, the core of play is a loop of leaving a shelter, looting, and returning with materials. You start empty-handed and craft tools, weapons, armor and vehicles, then upgrade walls, traps and workbenches. Hunger and thirst need managing. Dying away from base loses your loot, while dying at base keeps it safe, so carry only what you can afford to lose.
